Callian shopping
|
Callian is one of the mediaeval ‘villages perchés’ and remains unspoilt. You can find all the basic necessities and it is only 10 minutes walk from the house (3 minutes by car!) butcher, baker, Casino mini-market (food, drink, household goods), two outside bars in the square, and a number of restaurants (see below).
There are three big national supermarkets in the plain, a farm shop at the bottom of the hill, and a number shopping centres and petrol stations. There is an excellent market in Fayence on Tuesdays and Saturdays

Recreational facilities
|
Lac de St. Cassien is just 10 minutes from the house where you can swim, hire pedalos or canoes, and there are a number of restaurants by the lake. It is a popular location and can be less crowded in summer than the coast. The coast is not far away offering an enormous choice of beaches from Cannes to St Tropez.
There is a tennis club in Callian. Fayence aerodrome is a big gliding centre and a qualified instructor can take you up for a flight. There are a large number of golf courses in the area and the internationally acclaimed ‘Terre Blanche’ is across the valley including a 1 rosette Michelin restaurant. There are also plenty of opportunities for touring and walking. In winter excellent skiing at the popular resorts of Isola 2000, Auron and Foux d’Allos is only 2 hours away.
